What is CFSS?
In Minnesota, CFSS stands for Community First Services and Supports, a new, self-directed home and community-based service program for individuals who need assistance with daily activities. It is designed to replace the Personal Care Assistance (PCA) and Consumer Support Grant (CSG) programs and offers more flexibility, with options for people to use an agency model or a budget model for services.
What CFSS offers
- Assistance: Help with daily living activities (like bathing and dressing) and instrumental activities (like cooking and shopping).
- Health-related support: Assistance with health-related tasks and procedures.
- Training: Financial support for training to gain or enhance independence skills.
- Flexibility: Participants can choose between the agency model (where an agency is the employer) or the budget model (where the participant hires their own support workers).
- Caregiver support: Spouses and parents of minors can serve as support workers.
